I totally agree with Asim. It's like he's searching for something, like they all are, and that's why they go on all these crazy adventures. They do all these crazy stunts trying to bring themselves closer to that "salvation". But really, what they really need are their friends and families, it's right there with them. It's kind of like the whole emo/scene thing. How all these teenagers need to find that meaning and they become "sad". They dress in all black, they're depressed, they do drugs and a lot of things like the "beats". It's that same search for salvation, and people say that all people go through it, they just express it differently or follow through with it in a different way. Sal chooses to run off and literally search for it. I just hope he eventually finds it.
