I believe that Kerouac accurately portrayed that sense of wanting to belong. Young people probably most want to feel that they are in a place where they belong. When you are young and you still don't know where you're going, or what you're going to do, running away seems like the best option. Sometimes it is the right thing to do and sometimes it isn't. What I want to know is if Sal is trying to run away from something he did, or maybe he is running from conformity and consistency of belonging somewhere. He may not be running at all perhaps he is searching for something, but i believe that he is looking too hard because all he needed was right beside him, his friends and a family.
