this is a difficult question to answer-does this book portray the reality of american teenagers?- i am not really sure...for some of us i think the characters respresent how we want to be-free and independent but for others they portray a negative side-ya know with the drugs and sex. i want to say that karouac has attempted to show america that core feeling inside of each being-the one that tells you to take risks and experiment. maybe that is the accurate american description. maybe we all have something deep down that makes us want to run, hide or just GO like the boys did.
