Hi everyone!
I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend- although I am confident that right now you are hating me, Kerouac, and On the Road equally. I told you to break up your reading!!!
At any rate, I've been reading the blog, and I think that there are some really good points. Emma mentioned about beginnings and endings. I think that this is an interesting concept. Why are these transitions so important? So fleeting? How do they differ from location to location?
Also... and we will touch more on this in class tomorrow, but as I was re-reading tonight, I was struck by the sheer use of the words "sad" and "sadness." Why do you think Kerouac uses these so frequently? From where does this sadness stem? Is there any way to alleviate it?
